While Men Slept

2020! 

I am going to repeat it, “The Devil is a liar!” 

More importantly, “Jesus is Still Lord!” 

It seems quite evident that much of what we’ve experienced so far in 2020 is orchestrated from Russia to impeachment, to the Corona Virus, and the subsequent national shutdown. Then we all saw the gruesome, heartless murder of a fellow human and the slow response of the judicial system to bring a measure of justice. It resulted in protests that degenerated quickly into violent riots that now have all the marks of planning attached. Things seem to be swirling out of control.  

There is an evil plan at work to divide and conquer, especially the Church (Ekklesia) of Jesus! The enemy is working systematically to keep Christians distracted. He works to keep us focused and desiring the wrong things while we fight the wrong battles. Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tare among the wheat…” [Matthew 13:24-25] 

While We Slept! 

While we’ve slept, the enemy has been working! While the Church slept, secularists bought up the radio and TV frequencies and amused generations with ungodly entertainment that helped to form values. While we slept, atheistic humanists infiltrated our educational systems and molded the thinking of generations progressively growing anti-Christ. 

While the Church slept, the murder of innocent children became legal and celebrated by many in our Nation. While we slept, segregation continued to be a norm, perhaps even more in the Church than in society! The Sunday morning gathering of believers is sadly the most segregated time slot in American culture. We still often identify local churches by skin tone! While we slept, same-sex marriage became legal, and the family unit was redefined. And now, we are adding a third option to “male” or “female” on applications. What craziness!  

Our sleepiness reveals the greatest weakness of the Church and the individual members. It is self-focus, self-preservation, self-celebration, self-fulfillment. Without a doubt, the most powerful tool in the enemies’ arsenal against us is us! While we focused on living our best lives now, the enemy steadily implements his plans to steal, kill, and destroy. A sleeping Church provides little resistance to a thief at work. 

The Awakening! 

But the time for AWAKENING is here. Even though we’ve missed it and blown it in so many ways, our confidence is not shaken because our faith is no longer in us! This is the great lesson from our failures: we learn not to trust ourselves. Our confidence is in the LORD and His Word!

We are waking up not only to the seriousness of our day and the strategic plans being implemented by our enemy but also to the incredible power of our great God! None of this is catching Heaven by surprise. The Lord long ago declared our victory and the harvest of millions upon millions of souls! It’s harvest time! 

We Must Act! 

But we must pray, and speak, and do all Heaven declares! We must live now – “as in Heaven, so on Earth.” Remember the promise of Jesus, “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18) The Lord is building His Ekklesia, and the enemy will never be allowed to defeat the Church! 

We must FIGHT, and we will win! But we must FIGHT! We no longer have the luxury of putting it off. Our families, our friends, our world need help NOW! The Ekklesia is the voice, hands, and feet of Jesus in this generation, but a sleeping, self-centered Church cannot make a difference in the world. God is awakening His remnant! He is beginning to shake the Nations with His glory! What an honor to be a part of His plan in these days.

Vessels of Fire and Glory! 

We are praying and strategizing new ways to impact this generation. Look for books, youth conferences, revivals, leadership conferences, mission outreaches, the strengthening of ministry partnerships, and a 24/7 media channel with programming that will bless every member of the family. These are big dreams, and it will take a series of miracles to see them become a reality, but with the Lord’s help and yours – we will see it!
