Champions
To say we are living in challenging times seems quite the understatement. In our lifetime, we’ve never witnessed times like these. The intensity of our times seems to us as unparalleled in history. Of course, we’ve only lived in our lifetime and a perusal of historical writings show other generations felt the same. Yet, for us these days are unprecedented. And we may discover before they are over, they prove to be unprecedented in history. Either way, one thing is certain, our times demand champions. And God placed you and me in the earth for such a time as this!
Us?
Champions?
If you are like me, you’ve struggled to see it. You rarely feel up to the task. Most often, we focus on our limitations and our failures. In an attempt to avoid thinking too highly of ourselves we tend to think too lowly of ourselves. We fail to embrace the gifting of God within us. We know He redeemed us and filled us with His precious Holy Spirit, yet we dismiss the deposit of glory within us. We often mistreat God’s deposit in us as common, and thus we miss opportunities to make a real impact.
Know Who You Are
The enemy delights in our mistaken identity. He revels when he sees us acting the part of a defeated, struggling and overwhelmed human. In his bestseller, David The Great, Dr. Mark Rutland wrote, “Satan has a personal grudge against you. He absolutely hates you because he knows that you are a child of the King. He wants to control your destiny, and he will hit you with everything he’s got. Don’t forget whose you are. You are a child of God, and you are anointed by the King Himself.”
In Christ, we are MORE than we were without Him! Jesus, the Champion of champions, lives in us by the Holy Spirit! Who are we to say, “We can’t!”? Why do we live as if God’s promises worked in past generations and may work in others, but our issues are too much for God to do something great with us?
Timing
For some of us our confidence falls apart over the time issue. We believed God when we first came to Him. When we experienced His supernatural touch, we were thrilled and ready to believe Him for anything and everything. We expected every promise to become our reality in the next few hours. But when His promises didn’t all happen immediately for us, we began to wonder if it would, indeed, could, ever happen in us.
I want to encourage you to keep believing! Don’t stop! Don’t give up! I know, you know that our God can do it! The break down comes when we think about Him doing it in us. We live so aware of our weakness. We are so aware of our failures.
Hear me please!
I declare that you are crossing a line in your walk with God! Now, you are going to live so aware of His strength and power that you will dare to believe, even in the delay, that what God said, He is going to do – in you!
Dr. Rutland writes, “There will be moments in your life when God does something that resonates deeply with you. They ping on your sonar screen, and you just know that something big is going to happen. Then years go by, and nothing happens. The lost years don’t erase God’s mark on you though. The announcement was still made. The time has simply not yet come.”
Did you catch it? The announcement was still made! God, knowing all of our tendencies and weaknesses, declared over us His preferred future for our lives. He knew your struggles and called you more than a conqueror! He knew your sinfulness and called you His righteous saint! He knew your confusion and gave you His spirit of wisdom!
Hallelujah!
You’ve got this because He has you!
